US TV Legend Jay Leno Bids Farewell To ‘Tonight’

Long-time US television host Jay Leno has said goodbye to “The Tonight Show,” with the help of some celebrity guests.

Jay LenoThe comedian became tearful as he concluded what he called the “the greatest 22 years of my life.”

He was joined by celebrity guests including Billy Crystal, Oprah Winfrey, and Garth Brooks.

“It’s fun to kind of be the old guy and sit back here and see where the next generation takes this great institution,” Leno said about his successor, Jimmy Fallon. “But it really is time to go and hand it off to the next guy, it really is.”

The future of ‘Tonight’

Comedian and late-night host Fallon will take over the program on February 17 in New York.

It was a tender finish to a farewell show that was mostly aiming for laughs, with traditional monologue jokes, clips from previous shows, and a wild assortment of celebrities helping to usher Leno out the door.
